Why Did Jesus Come to Us?


  1. Jesus came to DECLARE his MISSION
  2. Jesus came to POUR OUT his grace, faith and love (1 Timothy 1:13)
  3. Jesus came to SAVE THE WORST SINNER like me from God’s wrath (1 Timothy 1:15-16)

December 6, 2020 -- Who Is This Jesus?

Text: John 1:10-11; Philippians 2:6-11; Colossians 1:15-18

Theme: Who is Jesus Christ to you?

Who do you say Jesus is to you?


  1. Is Jesus the Rejected One? (John 1:10-11)
  2. Is Jesus the Humble One? (Philippians 2:6-8)
  3. Is Jesus the Supreme One? (Philippians 2:9-11; Colossians 1:15-18)
  4. Is Jesus the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed/King? (Mark 8:29)

November 29, 2020 -- Come Before Winter

Text: 2 Timothy 4:9-22

Theme: Do put things off. Do it today!


“Come before winter” is an urgent appeal. It is an appeal that raises THREE basic questions.

1. Why come before winter?

Why was it so urgent that Timothy go to Paul before winter?

- There were realities

- There were necessities: Practical and personal

2. Did Timothy go to Rome to see Paul? Did he or did he not? We do not know.

3. Would you have gone? Would you have dropped everything and gone to Paul? What do you need to do TODAY?

November 22, 2020 -- Lessons from Naaman

Text: 2 Kings 5:1-15

November 15, 2020 -- Wait and See

Text: 1 Samuel 13:1-14

Theme: Be patient to hear God’s voice. (His timing is perfect!)


What Can We Learn From Saul?


  1. What we see is not always true. (1 Samuel 13:6-7)
  2. God’s word is to be obeyed. (1 Samuel 13:11, 13-14)
  3. Wait for God. (1 Samuel 13:8)

November 8, 2020 -- A Gentle Whisper

 Text: 1 Kings 19:9-14 

Theme: God speaks to us personally and intimately with a gentle whisper. 


  1. In God’s mercy, God brings His Word to us. (v.9) 
  2. God speaks to us specifically and personally. (v.9) 
  3. God speaks to us where we are despite our situation. (vv.9-10) 
  4. God speaks to us with a gentle whisper and compassion. (vv.11-12; Zephaniah 3:17) 

November 1, 2020 -- You Matter

Text: Genesis 22:1-18

Theme: Our obedience matters to God and His Kingdom


HOW do we obey?


  1. Obey IMMEDIATELY (Genesis 22:3)
  2. Obey with EFFORT (Genesis 22:3,4,6)
  3. Obey through WORSHIP (Genesis 22:5)
  4. Obey in FAITH (Genesis 22:7-8)
  5. Obey through ACTION (Genesis 22:9-10)
  6. Obey SACRIFICIALLY (Genesis 22:9)
  7. Obey with the FEAR OF THE LORD (Genesis 22:12)

October 25, 2020 -- The Shepherd and the Sheep

Text: Duet. 27:9; 30:20; 1 Samuel 3:10; John 10:27

Theme: Listening and discerning God’s voice


FIVE Lessons to remember:


  1. Communicate (share information) with God. (1 Samuel 3:10)
  2. Commune (fellowship) with God.
  3. Live in a Community (sharing and having something in common).
  4. “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Gen. 2:18)
  5. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)
  6. Know WHO YOU ARE (Sheep) and WHOSE YOU ARE (Shepherd).
  7. Be silent and listen. (Deuteronomy 27:9)

October 18, 2020 -- Point to Jesus

Text: Acts 3:11-16

Theme: Point people to Jesus


There are different kinds of finger pointing:

  • In basketball, players point fingers to the ones who make good passes. 
  • In baseball, players point fingers to the sky after home runs are hit. 
  • In Capitol Hill, politicians point fingers at (blaming) one another.


Biblical “finger pointing”

  1. Point people to Jesus. (Acts 3:16)
  2. Point people away from us. (Acts 3:12)
  3. Hold on to God; not our experience. (Acts 3:11)
  4. Hold on to God; not to people. (Acts 3:11)

October 11, 2020 -- Just Another Ordinary Day

Text: Acts 3:1-10

Theme: Our ordinary becomes extraordinary when God intervenes.

  1. Understand our CONDITION AND SITUATION (v.2)
  2. Understanding our situation will lead us to a sense of HUMILIATION. (v.2)
  3. Humiliation forces us to give our ATTENTION to God. (vv.4-5)
  4. Our attention to God leads us to GREAT EXPECTATION. (v.5)
  5. Expectation leads to RESTORATION. (v.6)
  6. Restoration leads to GLORIFICATION. (v.8)

October 4, 2020 -- The Church's Duty

Text: Ephesians 3:1-13

Theme: It’s the duty (privilege and blessing) of the church to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ

1. We are bound to no one, but to Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 3:1)

2. God’s revelation comes to us through the Word of God. (Pick it up and Read it.) (Ephesians 3:2-4)

3. The Church of Christ has its duty (privilege and blessing) (Ephesians 3:10)
